#Artissmart Creation: “Blade Runner Gerard” Tutorial, Videos, And a Few Words On The Contest

I had an awesome opportunity this week to engage in the twitter based “#artissmart” contest; a contest based on the former profile photo of Gerard Way for those who don’t know. Thousands participated, and in the end there were several winners and runners up. Some of the responses were very supportive while others were arrogant and nasty. Some felt very strongly that they were entitled to win (no one is), but here are some thoughts on myself being a participants and others as well: I had a lot of personal support from fellow participants and fans who were looking at entries, and several had mentioned that I “should have won”. While it’s awesome to have that kind of support (and I thank you for the vote of confidence & passionate responses!) I’m not even sore at all about not winning, and I can say that in all honesty. Was I disappointed? Mmm slightly initially I’ll admit, but not so much because mine wasn’t chosen, but the entries that were chosen. Some I loved! Others, I was a …

4 Dudes & A Trans Am: Updates on MCR inspired “Contamination Series II”

Contamination Series 2, Piece 2 completed with Prismacolor Illustration Markers. 16.5″ x 8″. Copyright 2012 Artist Jane Bush.com
Before all of the pieces to Contamination Series 2 are framed, I’m going to be adding something different and special as sort of a “icing on the cake” to take it to a new place. I can’t tell you what it is, but you’ll notice it when you see it (I want to keep you in the loop, but I can’t reveal all my tricks under my hat). So far there are 2 pieces completed in the second series and you’ve taken part in voting on my Facebook. I certainly appreciate that. …

Danger Days inspired “Contamination Series I” Art in LA show at Gallery Godo!

Happy first post of 2012! It’s been a moment, and while I meant to blog over the holidays, it rarely happens on account of it basically being the chaos of the season. However, I’m proud to announce the display of my first art show group exhibition coming this friday, January 20th. This exhibition is featuring my first series of the My Chemical Romance/Danger Days inspired “Contamination Series”. The exhibition, entitled “All’s Well That Continues Well”, will be held at the Gallery Godo in Glendale, California.
The Contamination Series features 7 original pen/ink and prismacolor illustrations by yours truly inspired by the world of the Killjoys featured within the “Danger Days” album/universal concept. Mainly these illustrations were taken inspired by moments in their music videos from the album, Sing and Na Na Na. My mission was not only to preserve the memory of this era but to highlight some of the intensity of it and specific moments in their own glory. This wasn’t just to give…

More “Contaminated” Art & Future Online Store!

Aah, here I am just taking a moment to blog on this interesting mobile app called “Blogpress” for the iPhone. We’ll see how this goes.
Basically, I wanted to download a reliable app so I can take this blog with me on the road and when I’m in the studio, where I may not have an hour to sit down and open my laptop. This is so I can bring you more updates on what’s going on currently with projects & art in progress.
I’m thinking with this current piece, one future piece in the works, and the last illustration I did featuring a “Danger Days” them that this will turn into what’s known as a body of work: 15 pieces of art with a specific theme. …

MCR “Sing” Illustration Artwork Inspired By The Video

Before I blog about this, let me just apologize for the watermarks. You know why I have to do this is because of recent theft. I don’t like it either, but that’s the way it is.
This was actually something I had in mind to create months ago, but it got put on the back burner because of other projects at the time. Inspired by the Sing video/MCR “Danger Days” era, I used Canson 19″ x 24″ XL Recycled double-sided bristol board (the smooth side works well with marker and ink applications) and 7-pen Prismacolor pen set I’ve come to love over the past year. As soon as I first saw the original photograph/still behind this piece, I knew I wanted to make a work of art out of it, as it already was a work of art in my mind (if that makes sense).…
