Never Before Seen MCR Photos Just For You…By Me.
My Chemical Romance are probably one of the few and far between bands that I can go back and comb through their photos and find new gems. Well, “old new” gems in the hundreds of shots I’ve taken of them. They may be the only. Suppose I’m just feeling nostalgic and have tour fever. The point is, I’m doing this mostly for you, the fans, the band that I love, and lastly, myself. I think it’s a good exercise in reexamining your photography when you can. These guys just happen to be the perfect combo of not just being amazing performers but also photogenic/energetic for concert photographers.
I’d been thinking about doing this in the back of my mind for a while, along with 100 other ideas. However, the inspiration and catalyst came after a fan on Facebook had found a photo she’d taken of MCR while I was shooting them for the first time in Kansas City in 2010. The back of my head and camera aiming at the guys, it was rewarding and inspiring to see her capture a special moment in time. It made me want to relive it. Some of these, for whatever reason (not “tack sharp focus”, blah blah blah) were not my “first choice” in selections when I originally shot them and a had a deadline to meet. That’s the thing, though: You can take tons of great shots of these guys and trying to comb through hundreds of them and find the 15-30 best ones can be tough. I’m not complaining by any means, though. That’s what makes going back through and finding new ones so much fun. It’s like finding money in the laundry you forgot about or finding your old toys you used to play with when you were 10. Anyways, I bring to you 25 glorious “new” photos previously unpublished from my vault of MCR shows I’ve photographed. Who’s pumped about the next album? Anyone, anyone? Yours truly is. See you on the next tour!

Hi Jane
I don’t want to sound like a massive fangirl (I’m 33, not 13; lol) but your live music photography is just AMAZING!!!!! I especially love your photos of my all time favourite band, My Chemical Romance. They really do capture everything about the raw energy, passion and flare you bear witness to when you see them live, and I should know; I’ve seen them 9 times!
Just WOW!!!
On another note, I don’t suppose you could do me the honour of having a look at my website? It’s http://www.lucyonionsphotography.com
I’d be really interested in hearing your feedback.
Kind Regards
